His vision to create hellish humanoids unable to distinguish between pain and pleasure, who prey on the vulnerabilities and vices in man’s character was uncompromised....

Preparing For The Fight Ahead His Dark Materials has been one of the more pleasant surprises this year. I’m always a little dubious when it comes to BBC dramas, especially after being let down by disappointing finishes to both The Capture and Bodyguard, but with the production duties shared with HBO this time around, it looks like they may have stumbled upon the winning formula with this fantasy epic. The great visuals and methodical storytelling extends to episode 3 too, which continues to build on the foundations of the plot so far with another decent hour of drama....

Somewhere in the desert wasteland of the construction site in Saudi Arabia where we spend most of our time, is a beautiful character study and a good story but it never seems to surface. Like the lump on Tom Hank’s back in this film, it acts as a cruel metaphor for this film that feels more irritating than anything else. Its abrupt ending certainly doesn’t help matters either and what we get is a rather frustrating experience....
