Nat shows up to see Travis, who’s obviously still spooked from the night’s events but claims that he’s fine. The thing is, camp is very much not fine. The situation with the shrooms is spilled, as everyone learns that Misty drugged them all....

As audience members, we already know that something is amiss with Char’s relations, as the opening scene flashes back into the past to a freakish woodland ritual involving Char as a baby and her grandmother. We don’t quite know what is going on in this scene but it becomes clear later in the movie that the ritual is key to the subsequent events that happen in Char’s life. When we are taken forward into the present day, we see that Char lives a lonely, oppressive existence with Angela, her mentally ill mother, and her downbeat and doom-spouting grandmother on a Dublin housing estate....

The Kidnappings After last week’s much-improved episode, Abyss returns for a story that can’t quite make up its mind what sort of show it wants to be. Part comedy, part romance and part crime thrilling mystery, Abyss’ tumultuous 13 episodes are typified perfectly here, with an episode that swings like a pendulum between its different genres, ultimately failing to really establish itself as anything but unfortunate background noise. It pains me to say it too because I love Korean dramas and the storytelling here is some of the best in any TV show....
