Star Wars Battlefront 2

Although the single-player mode lacks nuance, the game’s multiplayer and first and third-person shooter gameplay grabbed fans’ attention. The gameplay involved players battling foes on land as soldiers or in space as starfighters. The starfighters have better abilities and offer varied gameplay styles.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

This action-adventure title received much praise in 2022 for its immersive worlds, breathtaking visuals, addictive gameplay, and hilarious retelling of all nine Star Wars stories. It spans many generations of Star Wars lore from Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan’s fight with Darth Maul to Rey’s fateful duel with the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. The game’s DLC includes excellent content from Star Wars television shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. DLC aside, the game boasts over 300 playable characters, 100 vehicles, and 23 planets. You can explore the game’s chapters in any order you want, allowing you to explore the game differently from your friends. In it, players can use force and other tactics to solve their puzzles. You can partake in dogfights, hop aboard capital ships, or slay enemies with the franchise’s iconic light sabers. With its comical and colorful nature, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is an excellent game the whole family can enjoy.

Star Wars: Republic Commando

Star Wars: Republic Commando is a rare game in the Star Wars franchise. This is a first-person shooter title with a memorable campaign and gameplay that’ll remind folks of the glory days of Halo. This game boasts incredible squad-based combat and competent NPCs. It also contains some nods to tactical RPGs and fuses this mechanic with its combat system. This mixture gives the game some depth and forces players to concoct strategies to prevail over foes. Unfortunately, the campaign doesn’t take a long time to beat. However, this title contains enough content to warrant multiple play sessions from players. This is a worthwhile game to play if you’re looking for a phenomenal Halo clone set in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Where Star Wars Battlefront 2 put fear into Star Wars fans’ hearts, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (Fallen Order) shed a beacon of hope for better things to come. This game was developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. This is an action-adventure title that takes brief inspiration from various Nintendo properties like Metroid and The Legend of Zelda. Fallen Order takes place five years after the third Star Wars film of the prequel trilogy. It follows Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who is being hunted by the Galactic Empire and Imperial Inquisitors. The story highlights Cal’s training regime and fans will adore seeing how Cal reconciles with his past and rebuilds the fallen Jedi Order. It boasts incredible Jedi gameplay and offers many enemies for you to overcome. This title has you explore numerous planets in Metroidvania-styled manners. From shortcuts to hidden locales, there’s a lot here to warrant several play sessions. If you’re on a mission to locate an incredible Star Wars game, this one is worth picking up.

 Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

The Star Wars universe is incredibly expansive. With its slew of television shows, films, books, and games, there’s no end to the characters, stories, and scenery to be explored with this universe. While Star Wars: The Force Unleashed didn’t resonate with many people, it has enough mature themes and fun aspects to warrant a fan’s time. In it, players control a Sith warrior named Starkiller, who is Darth Vader’s new apprentice. Vader tasks Starkiller to murder every remaining Jedi that stands in the empire’s way. With Starkiller’s development to the interactions he has with the Jedi, fans have a lot to look forward to with The Force Unleashed. This game aimed to make players feel like Sith members. Starkiller has an incredible move set from Emperor Palpatine’s lightning attacks to his own developed acrobatic lightsaber fighting style. Despite being an older title, the visuals hold up well. If you’re hunting for a fun Star Wars game with a redemption-themed storyline, check out Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is hailed as one of, if not, the best Star Wars video game to ever exist. This is a space western RPG created by BioWare, the same studio that brought you the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series. With its addictive gameplay, well-written narrative, and immersive environments, it’s one of the best Star Wars experiences today. This game takes place 4,000 years before the Galactic Empire formed. A dark Sith Lord named Darth Malak has unleashed a Sith armada against the Galactic Republic. Players control a Jedi, who must explore different planets in the Star Wars galaxy to defeat this evildoer. The game offers three classes to choose from called Scout, Soldier, or Scoundrel, and can customize their character. While the story entices players to lean toward heroism, players can head toward the Dark Side. You’ll do so by interacting with the game’s side characters and making well-developed plot decisions. You’ll earn Light Side or Dark Side points which will help the game determine whether your character aligns with the good or bad side of the Force. This game boasts wonderful depth and strategy. Fans looking for a more complex and fun take on the Star Wars brand should look no further than Knights of the Old Republic.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader

The Star Wars Rogue Squadron games are on par with other noteworthy Star Wars titles like Knights of the Old Republic and Battlefront. This game captures the enchanting feel and look of the Star Wars mythos. It was developed by Factor 5 with assistance from LucasArts. Their combined effort helped them produce a memorable and charming experience for fans. This game has players control the renowned Rebel alliance pilots Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles. This game follows key scenarios from the films including the Death Star attack to the Battle of Hoth. The game’s missions offer something refreshing in response. Some events give fans answers to questions unexplored in the films too. This game has you experience stellar moments from the franchise on a grander and more personalized scale. Visually, the game looks astonishing and gamers will have a tough time putting it down. The sound effects and music feel like they’re ripped from the films. If you’re searching for an incredible Star Wars game that places you in the heat of Stars Wars’ epic confrontations, check this out.

Star Wars Episode One: Racer

The prequel films are starting to get some attention again after the fans mixed feelings toward the later films assisted by Disney. Stars Wars Episode One: Racer helps fans relive the glorious moment when Anakin raced alongside other beings on his home planet of Tatooine. Not only can fans play as Anakin, but they can also control the game’s other 21+ Podracers. This allows gamers to form a new connection with the game that feels more personalized. The races themselves are as fast as The Phantom Menace film’s depiction. You’ll be traveling at incredible speeds and racing across 8 spectacular worlds. It’s an adrenaline-pumping thrill ride that will keep you on your toes. Like some arcade racers, this game features hazards for players to avoid from meteor showers to Tusken Raiders. The soundtrack and sound effects are ripped from the first film, helping players immerse themselves in each world’s atmosphere. While the game’s controls can feel jarring at times, you’re certain to enjoy yourself with this game.

Star Wars: Empire At War

This is a real-time strategy game set between Episodes III and IV of the Star Wars universe. It follows the conflict between the Empire and the Rebels. Although the original game ran into an online multiplayer dilemma in 2014, the Steam version helped re-enable the game’s online functionality. Regardless, this game boasts incredible gameplay and lore to satisfy any Star Wars fan. In it, players are given the choice to assist the Rebellion, control the Empire, or rule the Stars Wars Underworld with an iron fist. You are in the role of the Supreme Galatic Commander who will oversee the lives of this universe’s soldiers and planets. Whether good or evil, you must steer the universe’s direction in the way you deem fit. Essentially, you’re playing the role of the Star Wars universe’s god. You will lead troops or starships to victory on the ground, in space, or across the cosmos. Every decision you make in one battle affects the ones that follow. If you’re searching for a game that gives you the same level of power as titles like Minecraft, I recommend giving this gem a shot.

Star Wars: Dark Forces

Halo isn’t the only first-person shooter game Stars Wars wanted to imitate. Star Wars: Dark Forces offers the same scope and feel as the Doom series. This game has a decent-level design, fun game mechanics, and iconic Star Wars sound effects to help you feel immersed in its setting. Unfortunately, the game’s pixelated graphics will turn people away as they look dated and lack polish. However, modders have produced wonder packs that fans can download to make their experience with Dark Forces better. Furthermore, this game introduces a stellar protagonist in Kyle Katarn. It’s fans’ first introduction to the iconic  Dark Trooper who makes an appearance in Disney +’s Star Wars television series, The Mandalorian. Like Doom, players will traverse several areas filled with creatures and characters from the Star Wars universe. It includes some environmental puzzles and hazards for players to overcome too. This game offered mechanics not found in the original Doom games, like giving players options to look up and down, duck, and jump. It boasts some fun power-ups like health, shields, and weapons. If you’re looking for a fun Doom clone with some added improvements, check out Star Wars: Dark Forces. So, there we have it, our pick for the best Star Wars video games through the years!
