Crackhead

Episode 3 of Dealer begins with Thomas and Franck filming as Tony heads out and meets Steve in a gas station. With the spy camera activated, Steve is clearly high but he threatens Tony. With a gun pointed at his head, he antagonizes the boss. Steve warns that he doesn’t want to end up like Nasser, who lost his territory. Steve gives them 48 hours to deliver the name of their supplier or a gang war will almost certainly break out. Following this ominous warning, Steve takes off with his men. Tony gets back in the car and the gang drive back to the hood in silence. On the way though, Moussa confronts Tony about the way he handled this situation, questioning his motives. The old Tony would have taken him out but Moussa doesn’t recognize who this new Tony is. Could it be that he’s playing up for the cameras? After a hectic day, Thomas and Franck head back to their rundown apartment and discuss what they’ve been through. Franck is buzzing, claiming it’s their chance to leave a lasting impression and likening it to reporting a war zone. Thomas however, simply tells him he doesn’t want to die.

The Episode Review

Another episode, another small slice of gang action. This time though we catch a glimpse of Steve and his crazy gang that seem hell bent on going to war with Tony unless he gives them the name of his supplier. This works well to add a layer of tension to the fold and even now you can tell things are starting to simmer up, ready to explode at any moment. At the same time, Thomas and Franck start to question what they’re really doing, with Franck’s adrenaline-fueled, impassioned speech at the end seemingly doing enough to keep them filming. While there isn’t a lot going on here, there’s just enough to stick with for the time being.
