What is The Witcher: Blood Origin Season 1 about?
You could say “nothing to do with The Witcher” and you’d probably be right. However, the story here takes place years before the main series, as seven individuals are thrust together and forced to join forces. As an evil, remorseless woman named Merwyn looks set to conquer the lands with her mage Balor, the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Has The Witcher: Blood Origin been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, The Witcher: Blood Origin has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Netflix. Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future. So far, The Witcher: Blood Origin has had a poor reaction, both from critics and audiences alike. The show is poorly edited throughout and has barely anything to do with the source material. Given the ending and the perceived reaction to this already, barely 24 hours since release (at the time of writing!) we predict that Blood Origin will not be renewed for a second season. What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel. However, we do know that the main Witcher franchise on the platform is due to run for another two seasons, with Henry Cavill leaving at the end of season 3.
