Twenty Five Twenty One combines the best parts of Racket Boys, Reply 1988 and feel-good romcoms to deliver one of 2022’s best shows. This 16 episode k-drama has been a real treat over the weeks but now that the series has nearly ended, you may be wondering if this one’s been renewed or cancelled.
What is Twenty Five Twenty One Season 1 about?
Twenty Five, Twenty One is a classic K-drama romance between two very different souls in the late 90’s, Hee-Do and Yi-Jin. Hee-Do is a member of her high school fencing team but thanks to the financial crisis, she’s forced to switch schools, becoming a member of the sabre fencing national team. Meanwhile, Yi-Jin’s father goes bankrupt, changing Yi-Jin’s life forever and forcing him to eke out a living. After experiencing the upper-echelons of society and all the benefits that go with that, it’s tough for him. As time goes on, these two find solace in one another, allowing their romance to blossom. Has Twenty Five Twenty One been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, tvN has not renewed Twenty Five Twenty One for season 2. Given the respectable ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up. The ratings began with a respectable 6.3% nationwide and has been growing steadily, increasing to highs of 10.9% during episode 8. Given this is a weekend k drama up against stiff competition, that’s very impressive. Based on this there is a possibility that Twenty Five Twenty One may be renewed. However, given most k-dramas wrap up their stories in a single season – we predict that Twenty Five Twenty One will not be renewed. We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Most Korean dramas are reserved to one season and with the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed. However, there is always the possibility that the actors return for a follow-up or even a spin-off ala. the Reply series. Given this show has similar vibes, it’s not outside the realm of possibility. We’ll have to wait and see if this one’s greenlit or not. We generally aim to update this page when more information becomes available.
