Seo-Jin’s Apology Episode 7 of Penthouse Season 2 begins with Ro-Na’s funeral. Yoon-Hee is there already with flowers but Yoon-Cheol is pulled away by Seo-Jin phoning. She’s hysterical, claiming that Eun-Byeol is going crazy. As he heads off, Logan Lee appears and stops Yoon-Hee from killing herself. He tells her Eun-Byeol was the one who killed Ro-Na and how Yoon-Cheol is currently with her right now, hence his absence. Yoon-Hee is incredulous, eventually learning for herself that Yoon-Cheol paid off the piano player and sabotaged Ro-Na....

An Engaging Elegy of Period Storytellers Currently featuring at the 2021 London East Asia Film Festival, The Singer, released in South Korea in July 2020, tells the tale of an early 1700’s Joseon Dynasty singer and the rise of pansori, allegorical songs about the suffering of common men and women. Much like the minstrels of old, the songs had two missions: make a bit of scratch for roaming hand-to-mouth performers....

Somewhere in this 2 hour long mess of a sci-fi/romance/adventure story is a decent film but its lost in a poorly acted, terribly paced film that forgets to make us care about the characters along the way. The plot, complete with enough holes to rival Swiss cheese, defies logic in hilarious fashion from one scene to the next. Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, the characters then try and justify some of these later in the film developing an incredible sense of self realisation that makes it even worse....

Squandered Potential At the start of The Suicide Of Rachel Foster, the game opens with a very serious disclaimer that this Indie tackles sensitive subjects like grooming and sexual abuse. It’s quite the statement to make before the game has even begun and immediately hits you with a serious realization – this is not going to be an easy game to play. A Surprise Visitor Episode 15 of The Uncanny Counter begins with Mun clawing away from Mayor Shin who’s far stronger than he expected thanks to Hyang-Hui breaking the barrier. Shin’s unexpected power surge is certainly something he didn’t expect, as Mo-Tak arrives to help. Fighting breaks out between them while Hyang-Hui and Ha-Na cross paths. Ha-Na looks close to dying as she fights against a choke hold from her enemy. The two trade blows, ending with Ha-Na eventually summoning the evil spirit from within and casting it off to Yung....

Highly Skilled In Mundanity The Virtuoso sets itself up to be a really intriguing assassin-based thriller. Unfortunately, this film is neither thrilling nor particularly interesting. With a slow pace and a main character devoid of charisma, The Virtuoso takes an interesting idea and runs it into the ground in the worst way possible. Despite Anthony Hopkins and Abbie Cornish’s presence, this movie is a blue-grey hued dud. The story here essentially borrows concepts from Memento, John Wick and The Departed, blending them together into a plot about a mysterious assassin, known simply as The Virtuoso....

The Wheel Of Time Episode 8 The Wheel Of Time is an adaptation of Robert Jordan’s epic fantasy novels. The story has been changed quite a bit from the books, with opinions torn from fans over whether this is a good or bad thing. With a prophecy, plenty of magic and political intrigue, this high fantasy series looks set to be quite the exciting romp.
